Vernacular: Sloe Pug

Account: Common in mature hedgerows, scrub and woodland edges throughout much of England Similar to Green Pug P. rectangulata, but that species has postmedian line strongly toothed near costa, and Sloe Pug usually has salmon-pink (black in Green Pug) band at base of abdomen. Larva feeds on flowers of Blackthorn, over-wintering as an egg.
