Account: Rare immigrant from mainland Europe and subtropical regions, recorded in most months of the year throughout the British Isles, predominantly on the south coast This species is distinguished from other British pyralids by the pale coloration and terminal band of black and metallic spots [Goater]. Larva feeds on dry vegetable matter, dried goods, cereals and grain, but there is no evidence of breeding in the UK.
