Vernacular: Willow Flame

Account: Vulnerable (proposed as a future Red Data Book species) and restricted in the UK to woodland in England, where very erratic in appearance Resembles C. linneella but differs in the orange ground colour of the forewing, which is divided into two spots by a broad blackish brown band from costa to dorsum and by the presence of a patch of erect dark scales in the second dorsal spot (MBGBI Vol 4 part 1). Larva feeds within bark of White Willow and Goat Willow.
