Vernacular: Mottled Rustic

Account: Common in a wide range of low-land habitats, including grassland, farmland, heathland, scrub, woodland and gardens throughout the British Isles, a species of conservation concern under the UK Biodiversity Action Plan. Characterised by orbicular and reniform stigmata appearing blurred, without distinct edges. Larva feeds on Stinging Nettle, Curled Dock, Broad-leaved Dock, Goosefoot and Hedge Bedstraw, over-wintering in a cocoon.
