Vernacular: Bilberry Hook-wing

Account: Local on moorland, damp heathland and mosses throughout much of northern England and Scotland. The whitish grey ground colour of the forewing and the almost triangular basal patch, which is constricted or interrupted below its apex, are characteristic [Bradley]. Larva feeds on Bilberry and Bog Bilberry, living within a spun or rolled leaf, over-wintering in a cocoon.
